Familia Valdelana Tempranillo wine from Bodegas Valdelana

Variety: 95% Tempranillo and 5% Viura. The quintessential variety of Rioja fused with a splash of Viura, to enhance and elevate the aromas of Tempranillo.

Vineyard: over 37 years old. Soil, clay-limestone with pebbles.

Production:

Vinified by the young family member, Juan, who merges innovation with tradition, enjoying family wisdom and privileged training. Harvest in the third week of September. Traditional vinification with destemming and cold maceration with skins for 18 days. Two daily pump-overs at the beginning and one gentle pump-over during the last days.

Tasting:

• VISUAL PHASE: Very high layer, intense cherry color, with aromatic iridescence. Dense tears, faintly tinted and with a subtle fall.
• OLFACTORY PHASE: Aromas of forest fruits, wild blackberries, raspberries, currants. Fresh strawberry tones stand out against a backdrop of red fruits.
• TASTING PHASE: Powerful and fleshy, with a luscious entry balanced with its acidity. A broad aftertaste that leaves the purest memory of red fruit with a jovial and fresh character.

Consumption: Chilled, between 10°C and 12°C.

Pairing: Pairs excellently with assorted tapas, meats, stews, legumes, and typical dishes of the country.

Awarded for the second time as the best Winery in Art and Culture, Bodegas Valdelana is located in Elciego, the cradle of Rioja wine. A village of just over 1000 inhabitants situated between the cities of Logroño and Vitoria, in the area known as Rioja Alavesa.

The grapes

From our family vineyards and manually selected, we have different grape varieties, such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano, Malvasía, and Viura.

The barrels

Selected from the most remote French forests, we have barrels made of French Allier oak, American oak, and Russian oak, where our wines rest peacefully in absolute tranquility and harmony.

The corks

From Portugal, we select corks from the best cork oaks. Corks that ensure our wines rest in peace.

Vineyards

Rioja Alavesa is a wine-growing region with a high concentration of quality vineyards. Differentiated from a natural perspective with personality, it constitutes a geographical, climatic, topographical, ecological, edaphic, and landscape unit. The situation is identical from a cultural, historical, sociological, and agronomic perspective.
