Production: Bordeaux-style production, with destemming and crushing of clusters and fermentation in small-capacity stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.

Region and vineyards:
Vineyards located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta) known for the extraordinary quality of its soils and vineyards. They have an average age of 45 years. The care of these vines is 100% organic with highly integrated agriculture. Clay-limestone soils that are very poor and stony, which causes the roots of the vines to dig deep in search of water and substrates, resulting in small grape productions but of great quality.

Aging:
Aging of 12 months in semi-new American and French oak barrels and a subsequent bottle aging of at least another 12 months.

Tasting:

• Appearance: Garnet red color.
• Smell: On the nose, the well-integrated tertiary aromas from aging in wood - vanilla, coconut, cinnamon - blend with those of black fruits, blackberries, and plums.
• Taste: Balanced on the palate, with great harmony between acidity and tannins, with a “long drink” and a very clean aromatic finish of a spicy character.

Temperature: Serve at 14-16 ºC

Pairing: Perfect to accompany tapas, cold cuts, rice, pasta, fish with sauce, and grilled meats.

For over a century, generations of the Mendoza family have made wine for family and friends in a small century-old cave located within the walls of the Castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

Organic farming

We are one of the pioneering wineries in Organic Farming in La Rioja. In the year 2000, we planted our first organic vineyard in Alto de Mindiarte. A set of isolated vineyard plots surrounded by a natural wooded environment full of fauna and flora.

The vineyards

The winery has 35 hectares of its own vineyard spread across different plots in the municipal territory of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
