The frying pans from the Chef line are made of 18/10 stainless steel and feature the characteristic patented heat-diffusing base by Serafino Zani, which allows for use on induction as well. The body finish is mirror polished, both on the outside and inside of the pan. The handles are made from stainless steel tubing, filled with perlite (expanded volcanic rock, a refractory material that helps reduce heat and capture any moisture that may enter during washing) and are secured to the body with removable nuts. The lids, shared with the Vickers series, are made of heat-resistant glass and have a mirror-polished stainless steel knob. Serafino Zani still manufactures its pots in the company located in Lumezzane, Brescia, using exclusively high-quality stainless steel (18/10 stainless steel). The steel is used in all components and details, and is always applied in generous thicknesses that ensure excellent heat distribution and dimensional stability over time. All steel cookware pieces are equipped with a special patented heat-diffusing base by Tarcisio Zani - USA patent 4204607 - consisting of a core of pure aluminum 'trapped' within a double bottom of stainless steel. The use of this base allows for optimal heat distribution across the body of the pot with minimal energy expenditure, and the possibility of using the utensils on gas, electric plates, glass-ceramic, and induction. All handles are designed to slow down heat transmission, paying attention to materials, shapes, and contact surfaces with the body of the pot. The design philosophy of Serafino Zani has always been based on aesthetic-technological research and maximum satisfaction of the end user, through the creation of everyday objects that are of high quality, pleasant to use, and that do not create discomfort or maintenance difficulties.
