Morphology of cow tongue Medium size, up to 12cm, slightly fleshy cap, irregular shape, convex but then flattens, wavy margin. It has no gills, but rather pointed spines. Color beige-cream or yellow-orange (under broadleaf trees) or yellow-whitish (under conifers). Hymenium with spines or prickles, dirty white or cream-yellowish in color, fragile, closed, not decurrent. Short and eccentric stem, the color of the spines.
