Vase in pewter cm 39x21x27.5 h, limited edition of 33 pieces made to order. Vases obtained from the fusion of pewter sheets (an alloy of tin, antimony, and copper), shaped, welded, and polished by hand. «Produced in limited numbers, these vases have been shaped recalling the metaphor of the tree. They are objects that present themselves as table architectures, showcasing the dimension and measure of the gesture and the hands that have shaped them.» Mario Botta Unmistakable examples of the sign and poetics of Mario Botta, these thirteen vases propose themselves as presences of extraordinary communicative strength in contemporary homes, according to an idea of living linked to the quality of the objects that populate it, particularly dear to the Numa project. «When I read these words that Mario Botta had written for the presentation of the vases he designed, I understood that I could find in him the harmony I was looking for to realize, with pewter, the works he had designed. The collection designed by Mario Botta consists of 13 vases, 6 of which are now being produced by Numa in a limited run of 33 pieces. Each vase is made from cast pewter sheets, shaped and welded by hand. It is artisanally finished with brushing and polishing operations. The thirteen vases we now present are presences of extraordinary communicative strength, unmistakable examples of the sign and poetics of Mario Botta; they represent the work of Alfredo Marinoni, a true Master in pewter processing, with whom I have shared the entire Numa journey expressed with the material he works with unparalleled mastery. Tredicivasi is the increasingly fascinating continuation of the Numa journey and project.» Roberto Zani Tredicivasi is a collection of large pewter vases, designed by Mario Botta with multiple arms as a “metaphor of the tree.” Thirteen table architectures whose geometries are very well expressed by pewter, an ancient material of great plastic strength. A material that Numa has brought back to contemporary relevance over the years, entrusting its manufacture to Alfredo Marinoni, a master in pewter processing, who for these vases is cast into sheets and subsequently finished by hand. Vases obtained from the fusion of pewter sheets (an alloy of tin, antimony, and copper), shaped, welded, and polished by hand. Material. Pewter is an alloy composed of tin and small amounts of antimony and copper. Due to its ductility, it has been used by humans since ancient times to create common objects. In more recent centuries, tin was combined with a percentage of lead, which was soon banned due to its toxicity. The pewter used to create Numa objects is an alloy composed of 95% tin, and the absolute absence of lead makes it fully compliant with the EN-611/1 standard of the EEC. Processing stages: The first operation related to the production cycle is the purchase of raw material in bars or sheets of pewter ready to be melted, or the purchase of bars or sheets of tin, wires, or rods of copper and antimony, which, melted in the appropriate melting furnace at a temperature of 250-300° C, yield pewter. The molten metal is manually poured to form sheets of pewter of variable size. The sheets are bent and made to adhere to wooden or ceramic cores until the desired shape is reached. The various parts are then assembled through a tin welding process, until the vase takes its final shape. Polishing operations follow using brushes. Each individual vase is finally stamped with the designer's signature, the Numa logo, and its numbering. NB The process of creating these vases is carried out entirely by hand. All processing stages are performed by highly specialized craftsmen, at the atelier of Master pewterer Alfredo Marinoni, Cellatica (BS).
