ACTION AND APPLICATION: In external use, sage is used for inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, as well as for gum inflammation, primarily as a rinse and gargle.
Internal use is related to digestive problems (mild cramps, nausea, and bloating) and issues with excessive sweating. Due to the presence of thujone, pregnant women should avoid using any sage preparations.
PREPARATION: External use: Pour 3 g (2 teaspoons) of finely chopped herb with 150 ml (1 cup) of boiling water and let it steep covered for 10-15 minutes, then strain. Internal use: Pour 1.5 g (1 teaspoon) of finely chopped herb with 150 ml (1 cup) of boiling water. Let it steep covered for 5 minutes, then strain. Drink 3-4 cups daily. The daily dose for internal use is: 4-6 g.
