Fromagerie Janin

Food & Beverages

Since 1885, the history of Fromagerie Janin has been a true family and human adventure.

In Champagnole, our shop is much more than just a business: it is the culmination of a long journey undertaken by five generations united by a shared passion for a product that is both authentic and convivial – cheese, a product of pure pleasure whose secrets we love to share with you.

"At Fromagerie Janin, every cheese is an opportunity to showcase a craft, a tradition and a skill"

As early as the late 19th century, Marc Janin’s great-great-grandfather and great-grandfather were making Comté cheese in Vincelles, near Lons-le-Saunier. His grandfather, Robert Janin, also a cheesemaker, bought a grocery shop in Champagnole in 1960, which quickly became a staple of the Jura town.

Michel Janin took over the shop before passing it on to his son, Marc, in 2008. Today, Marc is supported by his wife Céline, his brother Mathieu – a pastry chef by trade, who joined the business in 2015 – and a team of five staff members.

In 2024, the shop underwent a complete refurbishment, creating a new setting designed to showcase the cheeses and provide an even better welcome for our customers.
