ACTION: Tamanu oil, or Calophyllum, has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for all inflammatory skin conditions such as: dermatitis, burns, inflamed veins, broken capillaries, and hemorrhoids. The anti-inflammatory effect of tamanu oil is attributed to its content of 4-phenylcoumarin, calophylloids, and a group of xanthones. All xanthones exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, which explains the reduction of itching, swelling, and pain after local application. Tamanu oil applied to wounds and other skin damage has the ability to promote the growth of new tissue, which accelerates healing. Due to its antifungal action, the oil is also good for vaginal infections. Additionally, it is often found in anti-aging cosmetic preparations due to its property of stimulating collagen synthesis. The oil has a mild and pleasant aroma, making it suitable for use in lotions, creams, and other cosmetic products. It is very well absorbed, leaving the skin smooth and soft.
APPLICATION: It can be applied undiluted directly to the skin or used as a scrub. It can also be applied as an addition to the moisturizing Vitamin Day Cream or Evening Primrose Oil Cream. Apply the cream to the face and add a few drops of Tamanu oil, then massage together into the skin once a day.
