Chabret Maintenance Balm
A beautiful block or a nice end grain board deserves maintenance that matches its quality. The Chabret Maintenance Balm has been specially developed to meet the specific needs of end grain wood. Crafted by an artisan located just 5 kilometers from the Chabret workshops, this balm is the natural extension of the house's expertise, following a short supply chain and controlled quality.
Why does end grain wood require specific maintenance?
End grain wood, with its vertical fibers exposed on the surface, is particularly sensitive to dehydration and humidity variations. Without regular maintenance, it can dry out, crack on the surface, and lose its strength. The balm deeply nourishes the wood, hydrates the fibers, and forms a protective barrier against external moisture, without waterproofing the wood, which must remain alive and breathable to retain all its qualities.
How to use the maintenance balm?
- Ensure that the surface is clean and dry before any application
- Place a small amount of balm on the surface and spread it evenly using a soft cloth or directly by hand
- Allow it to penetrate for a few minutes, then gently wipe off the excess with a clean cloth
- Repeat the process once a month for normal household use
For first use or after a long period without maintenance, apply two to three successive coats to deeply regenerate the wood.
