Slovácká Borovička from the barrel is created as Slovácká Borovička Original, which has been further aged in oak barrels.
Juniper berries are macerated in ultra-fine alcohol for a period specified by a recipe dating back to the 19th century, after which the entire mixture is distilled and precisely aged for 12 months in oak barrels. The so-called "used" barrels, which would otherwise have been recycled, do not alter the taste or aroma, but due to their permeability, they allow the distillate to mature, so to speak. Through this unique process and thanks to the oak wood, Slovácká Borovička retains its original, authentic aromas and flavors, while also achieving a smoother and more complex expression. 

For gin lovers, we have prepared a limited edition of three differently aged gins, one aged for 12 months in a bourbon barrel, the second in a barrel from Czech whisky GOLDCOCK, and the third in a plum brandy barrel. The result is three gins with delicate, mild flavors and a golden color. The gin aged in the plum brandy barrel has a subtle hint of fruit mingling with the aroma of wood and needles. The one from the whisky barrel has a more pronounced smoky aroma and flavor, while the gin from the bourbon barrel is milder, yet you can still discern a pleasant bourbon finish. You have a unique opportunity to taste and compare the different aromas and flavors of this typical juniper distillate.

Details about the barrels:
•  The whisky barrel is from Gold Cock whisky, one of the originals from Dolany, made from European winter oak, originally heavily charred, with a volume of approximately 270 liters.
•  The plum brandy barrel is also made from European winter oak, but it is much less charred, with a volume of approximately 250 liters.
•  The bourbon barrel is made from American white oak, and at the time of storing the gin, it was about three years old and comes from Heaven Hill Distilleries.

The gift box contains 3 bottles of 0.2 l with cork stoppers. It was produced in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces – 800 pieces are intended for the Slovak market, as traditional for this type of alcoholic beverage, and the remaining 200 pieces for the Czech Republic market.

More about Slovácká Borovička

The production of borovička has a centuries-old tradition in Vizovice and is also inseparably linked to the history of distilling in Vizovice and the figures of Karel Singer and Zikmund Jelínek. The traditional production process, which preserves the pot still distillation as the basis for making borovička, is still used today in its unchanged form. Only the technologies that contribute to making the juniper distillate even smoother and purer than before have been modernized, but it still retains its characteristic rough essence.

The product name, Slovácká Borovička, may come as a surprise – it is produced by a traditional Wallachian manufacturer. It originated during the export successes of Rudolf Jelínek in the USA. In the American market, Slovak borovička was very popular and successful in the 1930s. Rudolf Jelínek sought ways to create competition for this product, and thus he came up with the name Slovácká Borovička, which was practically indistinguishable from Slovak borovička in English-speaking countries.
