A classic distillate made from plums has been produced in Wallachia since the mid-18th century. Thanks to favorable climatic conditions, plums have always thrived here, and their processing into mash has become a specialty of local masters, passed down from generation to generation. This tradition has concentrated primarily in Vizovice, where true Jelínek plum brandy has been produced through triple distillation for over one hundred twenty years. This method of distillation is responsible for the unique purity and smoothness of Jelínek's plum brandy. The pits remain in the mash throughout the process, imparting a specific tannin flavor to the resulting distillate. The distillate is allowed to rest before being bottled, in which it reaches the customer as the Czech national drink without exaggeration.

In the year of the millennium, the tradition of bottling a limited series of jubilee plum brandies by R. JELÍNEK began, made always from the first distillate of the given year. Gradually, a series of R. JELÍNEK plum brandies 1999-2008 was created, documenting the character of each vintage, that is, the properties of the plums influenced by the weather during their ripening. Bottling was done according to the harvest and the anticipated interest of collectors, in the number of several thousand bottles, also suitable for archiving.

This is a traditionally prepared plum distillate with an aroma in which we can sense the sweet almond scent of the pits, which does not overshadow the fruity character. The taste is smooth, fruity, and slightly reminiscent of almonds, thanks to aging and traditional methods.

The plum brandy should be tasted at room temperature; only then will its aroma and flavor fully develop, allowing us to fully enjoy the work of the Vizovice distillers.
