Are you tired of your boring, colorless plastic windowsills? Then you have come to the right place! We make custom windowsills from sturdy oak wood. This offers the possibility to widen your windowsill and add a tasteful accent to your interior. You can order the oak windowsill custom in length and depth. The thickness is 28 mm.
Custom work
The thickness of our oak boards is 16, 20, 24 or 28 mm. The choice is yours. Regarding the length of the boards: keep in mind that walls or niches are not always 100% square. Measure both the front and back sides. A sealant joint can compensate for differences. Is the difference between front and back very large? Feel free to email or WhatsApp us, and we will help you think it through.
Wider than 25 cm?
Up to a width of 25 cm, the windowsill consists of one solid oak board. Do you want a wider windowsill? Then we glue an extra strip lengthwise. We do this expertly, nicely following the wood grain, so the whole looks like one board.
Choose your finish
The finish is a matter of taste. You can choose an untreated board; this gives the most natural look but beware: your windowsill will then be sensitive to discoloration and stains. A transparent two-component lacquer is a smart alternative: the board retains its natural appearance and is
optimally protected!
Installation
You attach the windowsill with mounting adhesive or wood glue. Simple, sturdy, and invisible. Allow about 5 mm for the glue layer.
Smart facts about the finishing of our windowsills:
We deliver our oak boards untreated. Therefore, keep in mind that these untreated boards can discolor and are sensitive to rings or stains.
You can cleverly prevent this by treating the board. We are happy to do this for you! The delivery time may then be extended by a day. These are our options:
- Colorless matte lacquer: this lacquer does not change the color and appearance of the board but provides reasonable protection against discoloration and stains or rings.
- Colorless 2-component lacquer: this lacquer does not change the color and appearance of the board and provides 100% protection against discoloration and stains or rings. Highly recommended for humid rooms!
- Dark matte lacquer: this lacquer gives the board a somewhat deeper appearance; you can still see the grain structure.
- Black matte lacquer: this lacquer gives the board a tough industrial look, with the advantage that you can still see the grain structure.
Oh yes, we naturally lacquer the boards all around for you.
Furthermore, you can choose from 3 possible finishes for the top edge: straight, angled, or rounded!
