Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK
The climate of the Wallachian region has favored plums and their cultivation for centuries. Therefore, we in 2003 continued the fruit-growing tradition and started planting our own plum orchards on the southern slope of the Vizovice valley, in an area called Těchlov. After five years, we harvested the first crop of Vizovice plums and began a new tradition – the production of a limited series of Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK.
Today, more than sixty hectares of land are planted with plums and more are added each year. In this way, we are returning part of the landscape to its original character and utilizing the local specific climatic conditions. Individual varieties of plums are harvested separately, their ripeness is carefully monitored, and they are also distilled separately.
Since 2008, when we harvested the first, virgin crop of twenty-five tons of plums from nine varieties, we have been producing the golden variant of Vizovice Plum Brandy
R. JELÍNEK every year. It is created by blending the best varieties of the given year and further matures on dried plums. These release a huge amount of aroma, flavor, and especially sweetness into the brandy, which can be felt in every sip. You have the opportunity to taste the fruits of this labor-intensive, highly skilled, and above all patient manual work in the form of a limited edition of Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK.
In 2019, we harvested only 399 tons of plums. In Vizovice Plum Brandy 2019, the Stanley variety predominates, providing body, complemented by Čačanská lepotica and Valjevka, which add freshness, and Presenta, which contributes a heavy and dry finish. Aging in barrels and on dried plums gives the brandy the aroma and taste of plum jam, honey, and a hint of vanilla.
We recommend serving it at room temperature, when its flavor and aroma develop best; it is also suitable to add a piece of dried plum to the shot, which will further enhance the flavor of the dried plums used during aging.
Every year, exactly 5,004 bottles of 50% Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK with a volume of 0.7 liters are bottled.
Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK is allowed to mature for exactly 365 days, and its bottling is a small celebration every year.
