It is created by soaking walnut shells in olive oil for at least 1 year, then pressing them to obtain the beneficial walnut oil. This mixture has many beneficial effects due to its moisturizing, soothing, and regenerative properties.
- Insect protection: Walnut oil is known for not attracting troublesome insects – thus its repellent properties, especially against mosquitoes. The oil can be applied directly to exposed parts of the body, such as hands, legs, and neck, to provide protection against insects. The combination with lavender further enhances the oil's repellent effects.
- Self-tanning effect: Walnut oil has a naturally slightly brown color, which allows it to work with the so-called self-tanning effect, giving the skin a lightly tanned shade after use. Additionally, it can protect the skin and serve as a natural alternative to sunscreen.
