Qualified Designation of Origin: Rioja

Variety: 100% tempranillo harvested and transported in small capacity boxes, manually selected on a table to be destemmed and crushed.

Production: Bordeaux style production, with destemming and crushing of clusters.

Region and vineyards:
Vineyards located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta) known for the extraordinary quality of its soils and vineyards. They have an average age of 45 years. The care of these vines is 100% organic with highly integrated agriculture. Clay-limestone soils that are very poor and stony, which causes the roots of the vines to dig deep in search of water and substrates, resulting in small grape productions but of great quality.

Aging:
Malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels with fine grain and medium toast, followed by aging in the same barrels on its lees for 24 months and a subsequent minimum bottle aging of 12 months before hitting the market. Bottle aging at controlled temperature and in complete darkness since 1997.

Tasting:

This wine is a unique being with infinite aromatic nuances and subject to many interpretations, which is why we have decided not to issue a tasting note to avoid conditioning your own sensory perception. We invite you to discover it for yourself.

Temperature: Serve at 16-18 ºC.

Service recommendations: Decant and aerate beforehand.

Pairing: Perfect to accompany cold cuts, spoon dishes, spicy dishes, red meats, roasts, and game dishes.

For over a century, generations of the Mendoza family have made wine for family and friends in a small century-old cave located within the walls of the Castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

Organic farming

We are one of the pioneering wineries in Organic Farming in La Rioja. In the year 2000, we planted our first organic vineyard in Alto de Mindiarte. A set of isolated vineyard plots surrounded by a natural wooded environment full of fauna and flora.

The vineyards

The winery has 35 hectares of its own vineyard spread across different plots in the municipal territory of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
