Refošk Mali Boškarin 2017 – mature refošk for a long journey

Refošk Mali Boškarin 2017 was hand-picked in October 2017 in a sunny southwestern position near the village of Manžan. Due to excellent ripeness, the grapes remained on the vine until mid-October; some berries were already naturally dried, which gave the wine more concentration and extract.

Almost a month of maceration

Fermentation took place at natural cellar temperatures, and maceration lasted almost a month.

Three years in wooden barrels

After gentle racking, the wine aged for three years in wooden barrels. Part of the wine was bottled as Mali Boškarin, while the other part continued to mature. The soils of flysch, clay, and sandstone contribute to the minerality and firm structure.

In the glass

The wine is dark ruby, with violet hues and almost black depth. The aroma features ripe blueberries, cherries, dried plums, blackberries, spices, and a gentle touch of wood. The taste is full, serious, and long, with tannins that give it the potential for aging 10–15 years.

At the table

We recommend it with red meat, game, aged cheese, dark sauces, and slow-cooked dishes.
