We plant sweet potatoes on 2 hectares of beautiful Slavonian land. We start producing seedlings in February, and when the risk of frost is over, we begin planting outdoors in mid-May. Sweet potatoes need 90-120 sunny days. They do not like cold and should be stored at 10-15 degrees Celsius.
Sweet potatoes are fat-free and cholesterol-free, which is very important for people who have issues due to elevated fats in the blood and bile. They are very beneficial food for diabetics due to their low glycemic index, which ensures slower absorption of glucose, thus avoiding harmful stress on the body. Sweet potatoes are a great source of dietary fiber, essential for proper digestive function, thereby reducing the risk of colon cancer and similar diseases.
They are also excellent and very acceptable food for children and athletes as they provide energy without contributing to weight gain. Sweet potatoes can be prepared boiled, baked, fried, mashed, as jam, and sweet potato cream pie includes them in desserts.
