Handcrafted artisan product made traditionally with chestnut wood. It is a wood that is durable and resistant to weight and humidity. It is also quite flexible, which aids in the manufacturing of the baskets, hampers, and trays themselves.

Chestnut Wood

Chestnut wood is considered a quality wood. It is strong, flexible, durable, and improves in appearance as it ages. It is easy to find traditional constructions in Europe made with this wood that are still in use after many decades.

• Color: There is a marked difference between the sapwood and the heartwood. The sapwood has yellowish colors that darken over time. The heartwood is light brown.
• Grain: Straight with slight undulations.
• Texture: Medium.
• Density: It is a lightweight wood with an approximate density of 590-600 kg/m3 at 12% humidity.
• Hardness: It is a soft wood with a rating of 2.5 on the Monnin test.
• Durability: It has considerable durability. High tannin content and low permeability. Good resistance to fungi and insects, especially indoors.
• Dimensional Stability: Chestnut wood is stable. It performs excellently in places where temperature and humidity levels fluctuate.
