The peach tree, scientifically named Prunus Persica, is a tree that does not exceed 4-5 meters in height and belongs to the Rosaceae family. Its name suggests it originated in Persia, although various sources believe it comes from China, where it was considered a symbol of immortality. In ancient times, it was dedicated to Harpocrates, the God of silence and childhood, who was depicted as a child with a finger in front of his mouth, so much so that even today children's cheeks are compared to peaches for their softness. The peach contains vitamin C and, in smaller quantities, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6. It has a low glycemic index and is therefore capable of countering appetite spikes. It keeps sugar absorption under control, is rich in water and fiber, low in calories, and fat-free. Thanks to the presence of magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, and selenium, it performs a protective action on cells, repairing them from the damage of time. Its diuretic properties, on the other hand, are very useful for skin health, as they eliminate toxins and excess fluids.
