Frantoio Muraglia

Food and Beverages

Frantoio Muraglia was born in Andria, the capital of Apulian oil, five generations ago, but the patriarch of the family has been around for 460 years. He is a majestic Coratina olive tree.

Our history as olive millers begins with this green giant that dominates our countryside on the Murgia plateau, an expanse of about 60 hectares of olive trees.

“I liked to go in and out of the mill on my bike, and then run to get my hands dirty among the piles of olives”

Savino Muraglia senior bought it to make oil, defying those who told him that you can't make a fortune with land and olives.

What is certain is that from that stubborn ancestor – a “Capatosta” as the Apulians say – was born the story of an oil that today can be found in the gourmet corners of 54 countries. But many things have remained exactly as they were originally: the oath to protect the biodiversity of the agricultural landscape and the plants of strategic importance for nutrition, such as olive trees. We continue to harvest the olives by hand and cold-press them. To travel in the direction of Italian extra virgin olive oil without compromise. And of course to be what we have always been: Capatosta.
