Propolis, also known as bee glue or bee resin, contains more than 70 different substances. Approximately 55% of propolis consists of 30 different types of resins and balsams that bees collect from trees and process with their salivary glands, about 10% is essential oils, up to 5% is pollen, and 30% is wax. Propolis contains flavones, flavonoids, various organic acids, aldehydes (vanillin)...
All types of propolis also contain cinnamon, caffeine, benzoic, and ferulic acid, which act against bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
