BASQUE TABLE KNIFE ARTXILONDO
Basque Authenticity
The ARTXILONDO knife is a Basque table knife that merges the essence of a shepherd's knife with the elegance of a table knife. Its sage leaf-shaped blade is directly inspired by traditional knives used by Pyrenean shepherds, and its name pays homage to Artxilando, a pastoral valley in Iraty reserved for shepherds and their sheep. This version stands out with an original handle made from Basque fabric inclusion.
Pastoral Inspiration and Versatility
On one hand, the ARTXILONDO knife retains the fundamental qualities of the Basque pastoral knife, designed to be robust, reliable, and functional — it is the fixed-blade version of our folding shepherd's knife, the NAFARROA. On the other hand, it adopts the codes of a table knife through its balance and refined aesthetics. This harmonious fusion gives rise to a versatile model, as pleasant to handle as it is effective in use.
Blade and Cutting Quality
The Basque table knife ARTXILONDO is handcrafted and features a high-quality stainless steel blade. This steel is known for its longevity, resistance to oxidation, and excellent sharpness. It ensures a clean and precise cut, ideal for working with all types of food, from meats to vegetables, including cheeses.
Handle
The handle of the ARTXILONDO knife incorporates an authentic Basque fabric from the Lartigue 1910 house in Ascain, encased in a transparent and durable resin. This choice gives the knife a colorful and immediately recognizable visual identity while ensuring a comfortable and natural grip.
Balance and Comfort of Use
This model embodies the rich Basque heritage while meeting contemporary expectations. Its precise balance and lightness provide a smooth and enjoyable user experience, worthy of the best handcrafted table knives.
Everyday Use and Table Art
The ARTXILONDO knife is perfectly suited for everyday use. It allows for easy slicing of meats, vegetables, and various culinary preparations. Its colorful handle makes it a must-have for enthusiasts of handcrafted knives and table art.
Maintenance and Durability
To preserve the beauty of the fabric and resin inclusion handle, it is recommended to wash the knife by hand and avoid the dishwasher. Dry it immediately after use and avoid thermal shocks that could weaken the resin over time.
Dishwasher absolutely prohibited.
Dimensions and Conclusion
With an 11 cm blade and an 11 cm handle, the Basque table knife ARTXILONDO offers a perfect balance between robustness and finesse. In summary, its precise sharpness, ergonomics, and strong Basque identity make it an essential tool for all enthusiasts of artisanal cutlery and Basque authenticity.
