Refošk Modra Les 2016 – mature refošk from barrique barrel

Refošk Modra Les 2016 comes from the sunny southwestern vineyards near Manžan. The grapes remained on the vine for a longer time, and part of the berries began to dry naturally, which added concentration, deep color, and mature fruitiness to the wine.

Long maceration and aging

Fermentation occurred spontaneously at natural temperatures, and maceration lasted for 30 days. The wine aged for two years in an inox container on fine lees and then for another two years in oak barrique barrels.

In the glass

The color is intensely ruby, almost black, with a violet hue. The aroma resembles blackberry, blueberry, and ripe cherry, intertwined with a gentle wood aroma. The taste is full and soft, with fruity freshness, pleasant tannins, and a medium-long finish.

At the table

It pairs well with cured meats, red meat, grilled dishes, stews, darker sauces, and aged cheese.
