The Galician wild sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) is one of the most exquisite and currently most appreciated fish in Spanish cuisine as it is a semi-fat fish. It is a very voracious and territorial Galician fish and is found, like the Galician bream, in waters where the sea beats and moves a lot, such as breakers, cliffs, or jetties.

There are a wide variety of fishing methods for fish. The Galician wild sea bass that we offer at Mariscos O Grove is caught using palangrillo, a method of sustainable fishing that allows the sea bass to remain alive until the moment of sale in Galician fish markets, and it is not harmed by any gear, so its flesh remains completely firm and intact when cooked.

The wild sea bass has a very tasty, compact, and white flesh, difficult to replace with another fish, as its flavor and texture are very particular and quite different from farm-raised sea bass. Additionally, it is a perfect fish to introduce the little ones to the world of fish.

The Galician wild sea bass is a fish with white flesh that flakes into small pieces when well cooked and melts in the mouth. Moreover, this Galician fish is very versatile, allowing for countless different recipes such as sea bass in salt, grilled, baked, or pan-fried. This Galician fish is ideal for including in the weekly diet as, like turbot, red bream, or coruxo, it has a high protein content as well as a high level of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B.
