It was in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, 15 metres below the ocean, that the idea of Emmanuel Poirmeur – agricultural engineer and oenologist – emerged.
Egiategia, or ‘Workshop of Truth’ in Basque, restores the primary fruit aromas of grape varieties through several ranges of wines. From the Terre-Océan blend, which reveals fresh and fruity notes, to the raw vintages, which reveal more complex profiles, each range asserts its uniqueness while highlighting the unique method of underwater vinification.
Beyond innovation, Egiategia is committed to a responsible approach: recycling vats and wine lees, clean and natural energy, sustainable materials, bottle deposits, etc.
By working closely with local stakeholders and the local environment, Egiategia combines authenticity, innovation and respect for the marine and wine-growing ecosystem to create unique wines with aromas that are both unique and surprising.
