Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK
The climate of the Wallachian region has favored plums and their cultivation for centuries. Therefore, in 2003, we continued the fruit-growing tradition and began planting our own plum orchards on the southern slope of the Vizovice valley, in an area called Těchlov. After five years, we harvested the first crop of Vizovice plums and started a new tradition – the production of a limited series of Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK.
Plums are always harvested by individual varieties, and we must distill them in the same way. After at least a year and a half of aging, we select one distillate together with members of the Friends of Jelínek's Plum Brandy Association, which we bottle as the anniversary, limited Vizovice Plum Brandy R. JELÍNEK.
Stanley variety, a staple of world fruit growing, is very popular among gardeners and professional fruit growers. It was bred in the 1920s in the USA. Its parents are the Agens plum and Grand Duke. In the R. JELÍNEK orchards, Stanley is grown on an area of nearly 13 hectares and was included in the planting right at the establishment of the orchards in 2003. The blue-purple fruit reaches its maturity around September 10 with a sugar content of about 23 brix. When halved, the plum is very juicy, and its greenish-yellow flesh has a scent reminiscent of floral honey. The Stanley variety has a very wide range of uses; besides the production of traditional plum brandy, it is used for drying or for making jams.
Vizovice Plum Brandy 2020 Stanley was produced in a limited series of 5,020 bottles, each of which is numbered.
