Almond oil is obtained by extracting from the dry fruits of almonds and is one of the most stable vegetable oils, rich in aroma and long-lasting medicinal properties. Sweet almonds are a type that is usually eaten and used in food production, oil, and cosmetics. Bitter almonds are believed to have medicinal properties, but caution is needed in their production due to the high level of amygdalin.
It is well known that almonds are true little treasures of health - so small, yet so powerful! They carry such a reputation justifiably due to the range of nutrients they contain - healthy fats, proteins, fibers, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals - which place them at the top of the list of heart health guardians, as well as overall health.
High-quality almond oil is an excellent gourmet addition to various dishes and a great source of vitamin E. It has proven to be a very good emollient for softening and regenerating the skin and scalp. Traditionally, it has been used for various eczema, psoriasis, and dry and inflamed skin. It is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, and E, making it an excellent choice for both dermal and oral use. It softens and improves the structure of the skin and its tone, and due to its antibacterial properties and the richness of vitamin A it contains, it can also be used in treating acne. The high concentration of vitamin E helps in treating damage caused by excessive sun exposure, reduces signs of aging, and heals scars. It is also an excellent makeup remover.
What is also important and characteristic is that almond oil very rarely causes allergies, making it suitable for the care of baby skin. Likewise, it ensures elasticity and is therefore often used during pregnancy to prevent the formation of stretch marks and cellulite, as well as wrinkles.
Culinary applications / recipe suggestions;
Almond oil can be used for preparing cold salads, hot soups, and sauces.
It can be used as an emulsifier in various vegetable spreads, to season cold vegetable dishes, added to morning cereals/oatmeal, added to smoothies, drizzled on salads, added to bread instead of, for example, olive oil (2 tablespoons), suitable for making cakes and cookies instead of classic oil.
