The Oratoire des Papes – Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023 is a characterful red wine, made from a blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre. Located on varied soils of rolled pebbles, safres, limestone fragments, and red sandstone, this cuvée expresses all the richness and complexity of its terroir. Its careful aging, carried out for 12 months in French oak truncated cone tanks, followed by 8 months in concrete tanks, brings balance, depth, and elegance. On tasting, the wine reveals a deep and enchanting cherry color. The nose is seduced by its finesse, with aromas of fresh red fruits, floral notes, and a hint of hay. On the palate, the structure is fine and harmonious, supported by notes of crushed raspberry, currant, blueberry, with a touch of licorice and a hint of floral. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape will gain depth over time, developing more mature and spicy aromas after a few years of aging. Best enjoyed between 15 and 16 °C, ideally after decanting or opening several hours before serving. It pairs perfectly with a lamb tagine, aged beef, or small game.
