Region and vineyards:
Vineyards located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta) known for the extraordinary quality of its soils and vineyards. They have an average age of 45 years. The care of these vines is 100% organic with highly integrated agriculture. Clay-limestone soils that are very poor and stony, which makes the roots of the vines dig deep in search of water and substrates, resulting in small grape productions but of great quality.

Aging:
The aging has been done in new French Oak barrels for 20 months

Tasting:

• Appearance: Cherry red color with violet edges.
• Smell: Very intense aroma of black fruits – blackberries, blueberries, plums – and fine notes of pastry and cocoa, very spicy, with certain memories of underbrush herbs like rosemary and lavender.
• Taste: On the palate, it is enveloping, with great body and structure, very complex, certain sensations of ripe fruit and mineral touches give it a long and persistent finish.

Food pairing:
Perfect to accompany rice, red and white meats, roasts, game, cheeses, and pâtés. Exquisite with dark chocolate and desserts that include red fruits.

14 – 16 ºC

For over a century, generations of the Mendoza family have made wine for family and friends in a small century-old cave located within the walls of the Castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

Organic agriculture

We are one of the pioneering wineries in Organic Agriculture in La Rioja. In the year 2000, we planted our first organic vineyard in Alto de Mindiarte. A set of isolated vineyard plots surrounded by a natural wooded environment full of fauna and flora.

The vineyards

The winery has 35 hectares of its own vineyard spread across different plots in the municipal territory of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
