What ingredients are needed to make homemade pacharán?
- Sloe berries (approximately 300 g per liter of anise).
- Special anise for pacharán, called anise cream.
Optional ingredients:
- Chamomile flowers
- Cinnamon sticks
- Coffee beans
Necessary materials:
- We recommend using a large glass bottle with a capacity of 3 or 5 liters so that the pacharán can macerate properly.
Recipe for making homemade pacharán
The first step to start making pacharán is to obtain the sloe berries. We can buy them at a market or pick them ourselves. In this case, it is important to wash them well and remove the stems and leaves.
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PACHARÁN STEP BY STEP:
1. Place the sloe berries in a bottle (filling about one-third of the capacity).
2. Add the optional ingredients:
- For those who enjoy sweet pacharán, a good idea is to add about 4 or 5 dried chamomile flowers and a piece of cinnamon stick (per liter of pacharán).
- Those who prefer more intense flavors can add 4 or 5 coffee beans (per liter of pacharán).
3. Cover with the special anise for making pacharán. If we want a fuller-bodied pacharán, we will choose a 28º anise. For a smoother pacharán, we will use a 24º anise. The best option is to buy the anise in a 3-liter container.
It is ideal to keep the filled bottles well closed in a dry and cool place. And turn them often, once every 15 days or every week, so that it develops a uniform color and aroma.
