Here's the scoop on 'Pozabljeni Sod' (aka the 'forgotten barrel'): On a royal ripeness day, September 22nd '16, Tatjana & Mitja Butul kicked off the harvest, but life happened, distractions ensued, and the intended two-week maceration stretched its legs until Christmas came knocking. Yes, we forgot about the barrel – oops! But, hey, it gave us those specific oxidative nutty notes, thanks to the FLOR yeast party on top of the barrel, akin to mature cherry wines or a cheeky Marsala. Jura, you say? Close enough!
Now, this Malvazija has earned its room temperature throne – don't even think about chilling it. It's got the royal trio of almonds, mature pears, and dried apples in its flavor arsenal. So, here's to forgetting barrels, extended macerations, and a wine that's as fascinating as its accidental backstory. Cheers to Pozabljeni Sod!
