“Wickers” are thin, long, and flexible branches of species from the genus Salix (Willow).

They have been used in basketry and wooden utensils since prehistoric times. Today, wicker production in Spain is concentrated in the province of Cuenca (more than 75%), the rest of Castilla la Mancha, and a few other areas.

We use wicker from Spanish plantations as raw material. The production takes place in local artisan workshops, which promotes a decentralized economy that is more considerate of the environment and traditional ways of life.

A frame of sturdier materials is often made, and then a more flexible material is used to fill the frame. Wicker is lightweight yet robust, making it an ideal and inexpensive option for objects that will be moved frequently.
