Seasonal Walnuts
Natural walnuts of the Franquette walnut variety. It is the main variety of the "Protected Designation of Origin Walnut of Grenoble". The traditional French variety.
Obtained from the prospecting among wild populations, originating from Notre Damme de l’Osier, in the Department of Isère. It is the most cultivated variety in France and very well known by consumers.
Franquette Walnut Variety
The ‘Franquette’ variety is a late-budding tree, between April 24 and May 8, with an average date around May 1. Its erect growth habit makes it difficult to form in a central leader, so it continues to be trained in a vase shape. Its high vigor also does not allow for too narrow planting frames.
Fruit Characteristics
The fruit matures late, starting from October 10. The weight of the fruit in this variety is approximately 11.3 grams and the yield after shelling is around 47.8. The shape of the fruit of this variety is considered the standard for walnuts, and the kernel has a very characteristic and pleasant sweet flavor.
