Through its design, the MINI HANDIA claims a marked Japanese inspiration. It notably takes the blade tip from the famous Higonokami, a classic of Japanese cutlery, recognized for the purity of its line and the effectiveness of its edge. This influence blends with the Basque spirit to give birth to a compact, authentic, and unadorned knife.
Origins and Spirit
The MINI HANDIA is designed as a functional, robust, and honest pocket knife. Its reduced size does not detract from its strong character. It embodies a rustic vision of cutlery, where efficiency takes precedence over ornamentation, and where every choice of material has meaning. It is a knife designed to last, to develop a patina, and to live with its user.
Blade
The blade of the MINI HANDIA is made of raw carbon steel, an obvious choice for this model. This steel offers excellent cutting power and a precise edge, while recalling the appearance of blades from the past. Over time and with use, the blade evolves and naturally develops a patina, making each knife unique.
The mechanism is a traditional back lock, simple, reliable, and perfectly suited for a knife of this type.
Handle and Materials
The handle is made of pistachio wood. Each handle presents its own unique shades, making each piece a singular object.
Optionally, it is possible to inlay a silver medal representing a raised Basque cross, made by the Basque jeweler RODON, in Biarritz. This inlay adds an additional cultural and symbolic dimension to the knife.
