The Atlantic spider crab (Necora Puber) is a shellfish caught in the FAO27 area, where the catch of the spider crab is higher than in the Rías Baixas, which, combined with its flavor, makes its price lower. It is an ideal shellfish for various recipes such as rice dishes or fish, or to eat them directly boiled or grilled. The Atlantic spider crab is a crustacean that has a wide variety of flavors in its legs, meat, shell, and roe, with very fine meat, although its flavor is less intense than the Galician spider crab (but it is of better quality along with the Galician one). The Atlantic spider crab differs from the Ría spider crab in its coloration, as the latter is darker when alive and redder when cooked.
It is important to note that if you are going to place your order for Atlantic spider crab cooked, you should remember that this product suffers a weight loss of approximately 20%, so there will be a difference between its weight when live and its weight when cooked.
