The Galician red mullet (Pagellus acarne) is a perciform fish from the family of mullets (ollomol). Its coloration is pink, with a distinctive small light black line that runs from the pectoral fins to the tail. It can generally be found at depths of up to 50 meters.

The red mullet is very similar to the mullet (ollomol), which is why they are often confused with each other as they look very alike. To determine whether it is a Galician red mullet or mullet (ollomol), we must first look at the color, as the red mullet is light pink leaning towards orange, while the mullet (ollomol) has a dark pink color, with a small distinctive black spot at the insertion of the pectoral fins.
